Founded in 1896 by Shozo Kawasaki, Kawasaki Heavy Industries has built a great many things over the years: ships, bridges, railroad rolling stock, and electrical generation plants are all major parts of the Kawasaki business.
In 1960 Kawasaki bought the highly popular Meguro motorcycle company, at the time one of only a few Japanese companies producing a 500CC motorcycle. Kawasaki itself produced its full complete motorcycle, the B8 125CC two-stroke, in 1961, and over the next ten years they expanded both the B8 itself and their motorcycle line. In 1969 David Simmonds won a world championship for Kawasaki in the 125CC category.
Kawasaki went on to become one of the world’s most prominent motorcycle companies, producing the first Japanese four-stroke motorcycle since WWI, the Ninja, in 1983 and the world’s premier sporting bike, the Concours. Both of these models have been updated over the years to make them even more comfortable and improve their already fantastic performance.
Today Kawasaki is primarily concerned with upgrading their existing bikes and ensuring that every bike they produce is top quality.
