The most iconic motorcycle brand in North America and perhaps the entire world, Harley-Davidson began in a shed in 1903 with brothers Arthur and Walter Davidson and their friend William S. Harley.
In 1907 Harley-Davidson incorporated and they settled down in Milwaukee, bought a warehouse and started hiring employees.
By 1910 Harley-Davidson had already developed their signature 45-degree air-cooled V-Twin. The company continued to grow steadily, outdoing almost all of their rivals. They also supplied bikes to the American army, creating over 90,000 motorcycles during WWII and propelling massive growth.
In 1965 Harley-Davidson went public and in 1969 the company merged with the American Machine and Foundry, but the Davidson family has remained involved to this day, with Willie G. Davidson currently serving as President of Styling.
Today Harley-Davidson has maintained their classic look and reputation but they have also branched out from their classic cruiser motorcycles to introduce lines of highly performance oriented bikes and more comfortable touring bikes for long journeys.
